About Cycling UK Shropshire

CyclingUK is the national organisation that promotes all forms of cycling & has a membership base of over 65,000. It has a long and illustrious history, founded in 1878 as the Bicycle Touring Club, subsequently re-named the Cyclists’ Touring Club, and now as CyclingUK.

Our Shropshire Club is based primarily in the county town of Shrewsbury & is a local member group of CyclingUK, having a committee who meet four or five times a year & also hold an AGM – all in accordance with CyclingUK requirements.

The demographic of the club is skewed towards being at/over retirement age, with generally a good mix of male & female riders across the groups & also some “youngsters”. So don’t let age/gender put you off – everyone is just as welcome.

So, if you are looking for a sociable cycling club, one with a wealth of knowledge of the best routes, cafes & pubs in Shropshire, then hopefully one of our rides will suit your individual needs – why not give us a try?

Shropshire’s motto is Floreat Salopia, meaning “May Shropshire flourish” – this seemed to be a good motto to adopt for the club, so you will find the emblem on the rear of our club jerseys.
