Coronavirus: Advice and guidance for group cycling
As of Monday, 1st June, Cycling UK is advising that group riding of up to six people can now go ahead in England, in accordance with latest Government guidance, but it is urging everyone to follow best practice to minimise risk. Cycling UK has updated its advice on cycling in groups following government updates across all four nations of the UK.
Cycling UK Shropshire welcomes this new advice but, as group rides are primarily a social activity and pubs and cafes are currently only able to offer a very limited service, an important component of our rides is missing! In addition, after considering the issue of ensuring the necessary distancing at all times (including at junctions, on hills, at unexpected obstacles, at any planned stops etc), we will not be organising group rides at this time. We aim to restart them as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
We recommend that members always consult the latest government and Cycling UK advice, as this is subject to change.
Are you looking for someone to cycle with, someone who knows the best routes, cafes and pubs in Shropshire? Why not try us?
Who are we?
We are a Local Member Group of Cycling UK, the UK’s national cyclists’ organisation. We have active groups that lead rides from Shrewsbury – please click the button for more details of these groups.
What do we do?
Our main activity is leading cycle rides in the glorious countryside of Shropshire, from the “plains” of the North to the hills of the South and the Marches of the West, via the World Heritage Site that is the Ironbridge Gorge.
We hope you will join us on a ride and enjoy browsing our site – please use the menu above to discover what we’ve got to offer.
