SUMMARY:Ride to Ludlow (CMH)
DESCRIPTION:***** Note the different start location due to Shrewsbury 10k Run *****\n \nI thought that because the forecast is good and we have daylight why not try something different.\nSo\, this ride is to Ludlow and back\, a total of 93km/1170m of elevation.\nThis might sound a lot but there’s an option to shorten the ride by taking a train back from either Ludlow or Church Stretton.\n \nThe distance to Ludlow is 47km and CS\,  72km.\nThe route uses lanes and goes out via Berrington\, Cound Stanks\, Kenley\, Longville in the Dale\, Broad stone\, North Sutton to Ludlow.\nWe return via Broomfield\, Culmington\, Harton\, Ticklerton\, Church Stretton\, Stapleton and Annscroft.\n \nThe outward journey has no opportunities for cafe stops\, so bring plenty of water and snacks.\nThe return has the opportunity to take on water at Church Stretton.\n \nLunch for the long ride will be at The Farmers Kitchen just outside Ludlow.\n \nIf you are thinking of using the train\, please check the train timetable before starting.\n \nI would expect the outward leg to about 3 hrs with drink stops.\nThe leg from Ludlow to Church Stretton\, about 2 hrs.\nI shall aim for an average min speed of 17-18 km/h .\n \nThere are a few short\, sharp climbs to Ludlow\, max gradient 11% .\nFrom Ludlow\, there a  couple of longer climbs\, max gradient around 11%\nThe route enjoys lovely views across Shropshire and passes along quite lanes.  If you decide to stop at Ludlow\, there’s plenty to explore.\n \n

DESCRIPTION:Hello Sunday Cruisers\,\nThis Sunday\, 26th July is from Shifnal to a new destination: Halfpenny Green Wine Estate.\nIt is therefore a car or rail assisted ride. (Shifnal train station a stone’s throw away)\nMeet at Shifnal Aston Street Car park (TF11 8DW – 52.666784\, -2.371567) for a start at 10 am.\nThe ride is 37 miles with 552 metres of ascent\, so classed as CMU.\nWe will proceed via Cosford\, Albrighton\, Patshull and Seisdon to Halfpenny Green.\nOur return route is via Claverley\, Worfield\, Chesterton and Beckbury.\nIf you wish to join us en route please let me know\, so that suitable location is agreed upon.\nThere are many roadside spots under shade on our route suitable for 11s.\nWe will criss-cross 7 major roads but the ride will mainly be on quiet country lanes.\nLunch will be at the HalfPenny Wine Estate.  https://www.halfpennygreen.co.uk/\nThe general menu is on their website. On Sundays they also do roast\, and we could have small roasts if we want.
