An ‘undulating’ ride down to Hopton Castle for a picnic lunch (bring your own) and back.
Route on RideWithGPS
Leaving town over Kingsland Bridge and the standard route to Nobold, then through Annscroft and Longden to Pulverbatch. We take the “Cothercott bypass” over the shoulder of the Long Mynd to a morning coffee stop at The Horseshoe PH in Bridges. Then it’s down the Onny valley and on through Eyton to Kempton and Hopton Castle for lunch.
The return route brings us back through Clunbury to Aston on Clun where we climb the lovely Hopesay valley to Edgton before descending to Horderley. Over Cwm Head and the back lane through Minton to All Stretton and afternoon tea in Church Stretton. Returning to Shrewsbury via Walkmills to Dorrington and Condover.
Approximately 60 miles, with a couple of sizeable climbs but otherwise nothing too demanding.
NOTE there will also be a couple of short “gravel” sections. Easily bypassed for those with skinny tyres.
