Good-bye to two more of our cycling friends

David Osbourne.
Os passed away in the early hours of Monday, 3 April. He was diagnosed as suffering from cancer last autumn, after which his condition steadily deteriorated and finally he was cared for in his home by his mother and brother. He rode with CTC and informal groups, sometimes as a very capable runs leader, always good company and riding as a good cyclist should. His funeral service will be at 2pm on Wednesday, 19 April at Shrewsbury Crematorium, London Road, there is a request for no flowers please.

Arthur Broadhurst.
After enjoying a long and active cycling life, Arthur collapsed at his home while with neighbours and died in hospital on Friday, 31 March at the age of 94. After moving to Shropshire with his late wife, Doris, Arthur became so much part of the cycling community that many assumed he was Salopian by birth, an assumption possibly encouraged by his choosing to live on the Stiperstones. Arthur’s funeral service is also on Wednesday, 19 April at Shrewsbury Crematorium, and at 2.45pm the one following David’s!

  • Sorry we were unable to come to the funerals on Wednesday. There was an article written by Arthur in Wheelmarks Spring 2004 entitled 70 years of cycling.. Maybe it could be reprinted on line, John and Jenny Leese.

  • So sad to hear this news. Sorry i cant be there to say goodbye. Marion Guy.
